BINGHAMTON, NY, July 13th, 2020: SUNY Broome President Kevin Drumm presented a check to the winner of the graduation drive through prize drawing, Tasheema Crowder. All graduates who attended the drive-through graduation pickup event on June 29 – July 1st were entered into a drawing for a chance to win the $500 prize. In addition to a chance at the $500, the event allowed students to chat with administration, snap a quick photo, and pick up a unique gift bag that included their diploma cover and small gift items. The gifts also included SUNY Broome themed confetti to participate in the social media Confetti Drop Challenge.
“We want to congratulate Tasheema on being the lucky graduate to win the drawing at the pre-commencement drive-through event,” says President Drumm. “She is one of 230, from a total of 921 of this year’s graduates, who attended the drive-through event. We are happy to help out one of our students with a little bit of a different type of scholarship,” he says. “And we hope to see Tasheema and all of the nine-hundred plus students in this year’s graduating class at the Virtual Commencement Ceremony at one-o’clock Saturday, July 25th.”
Tasheema is a graduate of the Health Studies, A.A.S degree programs. She says after graduation she plans to enter the workforce in one of the local health care facilities. She is also considering returning to SUNY Broome to supplement her Health Studies degree with a Phlebotomy certificate. “I’m excited about graduation and winning the $500,” Tasheema says. “My birthday is this Saturday, so winning the check made it a little extra special,” she explains, “and when I’ve figured out where I want to go or what I want to do, I’ll have some extra funds.”
