SUNY Broome Softball against Corning Red Barons

Softball lost both games to Corning CC on Thursday, 13-2 in game one and 14-0 in Game two. The Red Barons were the second nationally ranked team the Hornets have played in the last four days. On Monday Broome hosted the NJCAA’s #3, Herkimer Generals, at BAGSAI and came up on the short end in those games as well.

Game one started out in favor of the Hornets when the one-two duo of Brianna Ramstine and Aryn Bicksler both reached first on Corning errors before Jacqualine Bigelow picked up the first RBI of the inning. Keira Warwick laced an RBI double to right-center field plating another run and giving Broome a 2-0 lead. Unfortunately that was all the offense the visitors came up with. Broome kept the contest close through 4 innings but a nine run fourth all but closed the door on the Hornets. Jenna Gaisford worked three innings in the circle and picked up the loss and Kaitlyn Andrews finished out the game for Broome.

Game two was all Corning, scoring 7 runs in the top of the first and 5 runs in third, racking up fourteen hits to only two by Broome. Warwick took the loss in three innings of work while Gaisford came in for the last two innings. Bicksler hit a hard double to center and Bigelow picked up a single to right, accounting for the only Broome hits in the nightcap.

The scheduled game against SUNY ADK on Saturday, April 16th at BAGSAI has been postponed due to impending inclement weather. The new date and time is Thursday, May 5 at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at BAGSAI.

The Hornets are on the road this Monday for a 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm game against Tompkins Cortland CC.
