SUNY Broome women's soccer team continued their strong play with a 7-1 win over Hudson Valley CC

The women’s soccer team continued their strong play with a 7-1 win over Hudson Valley CC on Wednesday afternoon in a Regional match played on Alumni Field.

The Hornets got on the board early as Arianna Michitti scored her first of four goals on the day in the 6th minute from an assist by Dana Stepp who delivered a ball across the box to Michitti. Two minutes later Michitti returned the favor by delivering a drop ball to the 18 yard line that Stepp promptly deposited past the Vikings keeper. Abbey Augur assisted the next goal when she sent a through ball to A. Michitti at the 26:49 mark and beat a defender in the box to send a rocket into the side netting. Stepp got her second goal of the game when she picked off a loose ball in the box at 36:42 to send it into the back of the net and give the host team a 4-0 halftime lead.

Stepp completed her hat trick in the 59th minute courtesy of a feed by A. Michitti who found her alone at the 20 yard line. A. Michitti followed that goal with a hat trick of her own in the 65th minute after finding herself one on one with the Viking keeper inside the box and planted the ball in the back of the net. A. Michitti added a season first, when she picked up her fourth goal in the 75th minute when Avery Kenyon found her free in the box and delivered a perfectly placed cross.

The Hornets defense allowed only 3 shots, 1 goal and no corners in the contest to improve to 8-1-1 on the season while the Vikings fall to 4-6-0.

Broome, currently ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Poll, will travel to North Country CC on Monday for a Columbus Day matchup against the Saints in a Regional match scheduled to begin at 1:00 pm.
