SUNY Broome women's soccer team defeated Finger Lakes CC at Alumni Field
The women’s soccer team defeated Finger Lakes CC at Alumni Field on Sunday afternoon by a score of 6-1. The Lakers, currently ranked #2 in Region III, saw their six-game winning streak come to an end by the Hornets, currently sitting in the 4th spot in the Region III rankings.

Avery Kenyon opened up the scoring just 2:57 into the contest, finishing a cross from Quinn Miller and Dana Stepp and the Hornets never looked back. Stepp got her first of two goals on the day when she rifled a shot from 16 yards out that froze the Lakers’ keeper Tori Armstrong for the 2-0 lead. Eliza Way got her second collegiate goal at 38:50 when she was the recipient of a cross from Kenyon which she promptly deposited in the back of the net from close range for the 3-0 halftime lead.

Arannai Michitti rung the bell twice in a six minute span, once at 48:31 and again at 54:25. She fought through a crowd at the 6 yard line and put home a hard earned goal for the first one with the assist going to Kenyon and Emily Kane and followed that up when Kane picked up a loose ball in the 18 box and dropped it quickly to Michitti who put the ball into the upper net. Stepp finished the scoring for the Hornets with an unassisted goal in the 56th minute. The Lakers got on the board courtesy of a PK by Allie Bowe in the 79th minute to finish the scoring.

The Hornets improved to 5-1 while the Lakers fell to 6-2 on the season.

Broome will travel to Rochester on Tuesday evening for a 7:00 pm match against St. John Fisher JVs.
