Zephora Brouillette scored three goals in Broome’s 3-1 defeat of Corning on Saturday.
The Hornets went on the road and notched their first win of the campaign over the Red Barons.
Broome played a complete game, maintaining possession of the ball and creating many opportunities to finish.
Brouillette started her scoring barrage with an early goal at the 7:47 mark, off of assists from Kara Sullivan and Mikayla Smith. Brouillette would score again at the 19:49 mark off an assist from Sullivan. She put the stamp on her day with a third goal at the 34:09 mark off of an assist from Sullivan. The Sullivan-to-Brouillette connection worked all day for the Hornets, leading to three breakaway plays resulting in goals.
Goalkeeper Madeline Hyzer made six great saves in the net for the Hornets, ensuring the road victory.
After a strong 3-1 win against Corning, Broome headed to Genesee for a match on Sunday.
The Cougars exhibited speed and strength on the ball, but the Hornets stuck around in the game through stellar passing and by shutting down many of Genesee’s attacks.
Brouillette and Carly Hein both attempted shots from free kicks, but were unable to convert them into goals. With Broome trailing 4-0 in the second half, Hyzer entered the goal for the Hornets and prevented any further Genesee scoring by notching 11 saves. Broome would fall by that 4-0 score.
After a 1-1 weekend away from home, the Hornets return to Alumni Field to host Hudson Valley CC on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
