The home stretch to the end of the semester between Thanksgiving and Christmas can be a busy time for college campuses, and SUNY Broome’s Admissions Office is certainly not exempt.

On Thursday, the admissions crew welcomed a group of 27 from the Brooklyn School for Career Development for a campus visit. Students enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about SUNY Broome through an admissions information session and tour, as well as sessions with the Educational Opportunity Program and the Accessibility Resources Office. This was our second time welcoming the Brooklyn School for Career Development to campus this year alone, and we look forward to welcoming their students again in the future, both as high schoolers and as future SUNY Broome students.

On Friday, we welcomed a group of 45 visitors from the Bronx’s Montefiore Mosholu Community Center for a campus tour as part of a series of SUNY school visits with their College Bound Program. Though their time on our campus was short, we always welcome the opportunity to host groups from downstate to advertise the many benefits of an education in Broome county. We hope to see some of their faces on campus again this fall!

Planning for our upcoming Deposit and Binghamton High School College Express events is well underway. This Wednesday, admissions director Maja Szostak visited Deposit High School for a parents’ night, which gave the parents of Deposit High School seniors the opportunity to speak with admissions representatives directly about the College Express program and its benefits. This connection with the parents of high school students offers a major benefit not only to admissions counselors, but to the students as well, as it allows both counselors and parents to offer better support to future students as they venture into postsecondary education and further independence.

Would you like to speak to Admissions regarding your program or department? We would love to connect with you! Each Wednesday, we are hosting “Information Wednesdays” in the Wales Office, where campus partners are invited to speak with the department so that we can learn more about your program, any upcoming events, highlights, and partnership opportunities.

If you are interested, you can sign up online at SUNY Broome Information Wednesdays.

Special THANK YOU to Heather Hoffman who came to speak with Admissions about Physical Education and Sports Studies this week. We had a wonderful conversation about transfer opportunities, internships in the community, and some of the incredible alumni and the careers they’ve been able to create because of their time at SUNY Broome!
