The Graduate Survey Report provides our institution with valuable insights into program outcomes and graduate success. Compiled from recent 2023-24 graduates’ data, it highlights employment status, further education plans, and satisfaction with the academic experience. These findings help institutions evaluate program effectiveness, improve support services, and align curricula with workforce demands and transfer pathways.
Summary of the Graduate Survey Report (2023–2024)
The Graduate Survey Report for SUNY Broome offers a detailed look at the post-graduation outcomes of its 733 graduates from the 2023–2024 academic year, who collectively earned 762 awards. Conducted by the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, the survey achieved a response rate of 27.4%, with 201 out of 733 graduates offering valuable insights into their career paths, education plans, and satisfaction with their college experience. The findings reveal that 73% of respondents have secured employment, with 39% in full-time roles, 32% in part-time positions, and 11% who are actively seeking employment. Additionally, 42% of employed graduates reported that their current work roles were directly related to their field of study at SUNY Broome, reflecting alignment between the College’s programs and workforce needs.
The survey also highlights a strong focus on graduates’ plans for continuing education and personal growth, with 74% (149) of respondents enrolled or planning to pursue further education. Experiential learning opportunities proved instrumental in student success; 30% of respondents participated in internships, externships, or clinical experiences while a student at the College, and an impressive 98% of them indicated that these experiences prepared them for the workforce.
In terms of satisfaction, the majority of students expressed positive sentiments about their time at SUNY Broome. Sixty-six percent (133) of respondents reported being satisfied or very satisfied with their academic experience, while 67% (135) shared similar satisfaction with their overall time at the College, reflecting the institution’s dedication to creating a supportive and enriching environment.
When examining outcomes by program type, career-focused degrees (AAS and AOS) showed 40.5% of employed graduates in positions aligned with their fields of study, while transfer programs (AA and AS) reflected a slightly lower alignment at 25.1%. This lower percentage for students in transfer programs being employed is to be expected, as these students would most likely be transferring to a 4-year institution. Among certificate programs, 58.3% (4) of employed respondents found roles related to their training. The outcomes show the College’s progress in preparing students for jobs and further education, while identifying ways to better align programs with industry needs and transfer pathways for student success.
