To those enrolled in the New York State Retirement System (NYSTRS):
SUNY Broome is entitled to have a delegate to represent our NYSTRS members. Delegates have 2 main functions:
- Elect a teacher member to the Retirement Board at the Annual Delegates Meeting (held in November)
- Serve as a liaison between NYSTRS and the members of the college.
SUNY Broome is also entitled to a corresponding alternate, who would carry out these duties if the delegate were unable.
The delegate and/or alternate must be full time employees and current NYSTRS members. Delegates elected for this period would serve a 2-year term beginning August 1, 2021 and ending July 31, 2023.
If anyone is interested in being a delegate of alternate, please contact Paige Sedlacek at +1 (607) 778-5213 or sedlacekpm@sunybroome.edu by May 31, 2021. If more than one person is interested in being a delegate or alternate, the college will hold an election among the NYSTRS members.
