Are you enrolling in college for the first time?

Are you thinking it is time for a change and want to explore other career options before you register?

This is a great time to learn about and consider Nontraditional by Gender careers.

The phrase Nontraditional Careers simply means jobs that are filled predominantly by one gender, either mostly males or mostly females. For example, a “Nontraditional Occupation” for females is one in which females comprise 25% or less of the employees in that occupation (i.e. female mechanical engineers). Likewise, a “Nontraditional Occupation” for males is one in which males comprise 25% or less of the employees in that occupation (i.e. male nurses).

SUNY Broome offers over 20 Perkins-Eligible Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs that are nontraditional by gender.

There are exceptional benefits about working in a NTG career: an increase in opportunities and potential growth, earning more money, and being part of progressive change. And the best part is you will not be alone. Support is available for students on every step of their journey towards a NTG career, in school and beyond.

You can learn from the NTG leaders who have come before you, support staff, and other NTG students enrolled in these programs for continued guidance, training, inspiration, and connecting you to the resources needed to succeed.

The Perkins Team at SUNY Broome is here to support you throughout your journey towards a valuable NTG career.

Are you ready to stand out in your career? Change the narrative of your story? Break out of the career stereotypes?
