New Full Time Assistant Counselor: Deena Dement

Counseling Services is pleased to announce that Deena Dement, LMFT has been appointed to full-time Assistant Counselor within the Department. Deena has been with the department since the Fall of 2022 as a part- time, Assistant Counselor. She has served the campus community through offering individual, group and crisis counseling, as well as wellness programming to the students of SUNY Broome. As of March 10, 2025, Deena will continue to serve as an Assistant Counselor, offering all of the above mentioned services on a full- time basis.

Deena came to SUNY Broome with over 18 years of experience as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Prior to Broome, she worked at Samaritan Counseling Center in Endwell, NY , a clinical setting where she worked with individuals and couples. Through her work at Samaritan Counseling Center, Deena developed a strong desire to work with college-aged students.

Over the last three years at Broome, she has supported students in their quest for improved mental wellness and overall well-being. She has developed and offered interactive wellness programming. Deena continues to fuel her passion for learning and supporting others through the work and programming that she offers within the Counseling Services Department.

Deena offers short-term, solution focused and culturally competent counseling for individuals, students in crisis counseling and through group counseling and wellness programming.
