The men’s soccer team earned their first shutout of the year against SUNY ADK on Saturday, 1-0 against SUNY Adirondack and tied Hudson Valley CC, 3-3 on Sunday.

On Saturday afternoon the Hornets defeated the Timberwolves on Alumni Field to pick up the win. The lone goal of the match came in the 17th minute from Nathaniel Wojcik via a through ball from Yuri Brich. Dean Patterson notched 3 saves in the match and earned his first collegiate shutout. Adirondack keeper, Landon Keller, made numerous saves to keep the visitors in the game including several spectacular stops. Adrian Pjetri and John Simmons locked down the middle and kept pressure on the Timberwolves throughout the game.

On Sunday the match displayed some back and forth play against Hudson Valley until the 32nd minute when Wojcik opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal. Three minutes later Wojcik found the back of the net again courtesy of a pass through the middle of the field from Aaron Salisbury only to be answered by the Vikings three minutes later. Broome held on to the lead until the 72nd minute when the Vikings evened the score at 2-2. Hudson Valley found the back of the net in the 78th minute for their third unanswered goal of the match. Brich, quiet most of the game, lifted the host team with the equalizer in dramatic fashion with just two minutes left in the contest from Salisbury’s second assist in the game. Patterson held down the goal with 8 saves.
