The men’s basketball team fell to Jefferson CC on Saturday in Watertown 98-62, before picking up a home win on Sunday against Finger Lakes CC by a score of 83-72.

The Hornets were unable to to get it done on the road against the Cannoneers Saturday, Jefferson took a commanding 23 point lead into the half and never looked back. Andrew Charles went 9 for 10 from the free throw line and finished the game with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Charles attacked the basket consistently against a physical and athletic Jefferson rotation. Freshman point guard Tyace Thompson also was able to get to the free throw line and connect on 8 out of 12. Thompson finished with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals.

The Hornets started the game strong and maintained the lead throughout the contest against the Lakers on Sunday. Broome was able to capitalize on Finger Lakes’ turnovers and keep a late run by the visitors in check. Charles led the charge with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists on 71% shooting from the field. Charles played 40 minutes and relentlessly attacked the basket for every one of them. An equally impressive performance was turned in by Isaiah Huertas who scored 21 points on 62% from the field, adding 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and going 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Senior guard Seth Roselle, Jr contributed 16 points and 4 assists and had a huge impact on the defensive end of the floor.

Broome returns to the Baldwin Gym this Wednesday for a 7:00 pm game against Tompkins Cortland CC.
