Broome was led in scoring by K-Cie Salmon (Brooklyn, NY)

The 2021-22 Hornets dropped their home opener in a non-league matchup against USCAA Division II opponent Penn State Wilkes-Barre 100-57.

Broome returns no players from their last outing in 2019-2020 and faced an experienced opponent in their first matchup of the season. The Hornets hung with the Nittany Lions for the first ten minutes of the contest despite poor shooting to face a 20-11 deficit. Over the next ten minutes, the Nittany Lions turned up the pressure for a 34-8 run that led to a 54-19 halftime lead.

The second half was played more even but the Hornets were unable to close the gap, resulting in a 100-57 loss.

Broome was led in scoring by K-Cie Salmon (Brooklyn, NY) with 9 points to go with his 8 rebounds. Jalin Pitts (Palatka, FLA) contributed 11 rebounds and chipped in 4 points. Seth Roselle, Jr (Derby CT) and Frank Richards (Brooklyn, NY) both dished out 3 assists while teammate Ibrahima Sow (Brooklyn, NY) added 7 points and 3 rebounds off the bench. Garrett Bieber (Binghamton, NY) blocked 4 shots in the game.

The Hornets return home next Tuesday for a Region III matchup against the Twins from Columbia-Greene CC, tipoff 6:00 pm.
