coronavirus, suny broome update

As the Governor declares a state of emergency, the Health & Safety Department and College’s Incident Management Team would like to communicate to the campus what this means for SUNY Broome.

Governor Cuomo declared a state of emergency on Saturday, March 7, 2020 as a precautionary measure in order to obtain resources in the event this situation develops further. This does not directly impact our campus, but SUNY Broome continues to monitor the evolving situation. We are engaged in close communication with the Broome County Health Department, SUNY, and other state agencies to ensure coordination locally.

The Facilities Department and Student Village continue to implement preventative sanitation measures to day-to-day operations. This includes disinfecting commonly used areas such as door handles, stair railings, and surfaces. Hand-sanitizer dispensers have also been installed at the entrances of every building and outside of every bathroom campus-wide.

As a reminder, we encourage all campus community members to practice good health habits. Remember to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. For a list of other preventative measures, visit the COVID-19 Health Information page that SUNY Broome has compiled.

For the most up-to-date information, please visit the SUNY Broome Coronavirus Planning and Precautionary Measures website often.
