Yours Truly, Jack Frost

The children’s holiday play, Yours Truly, Jack Frost, is SUNY Broome Theater’s first “virtual” theater production. This pre-recorded production will be livestreamed on the SUNY Broome You Tube page beginning Wednesday morning, December 16th.

The schools in our entire region will be invited free of charge to this virtual production recorded entirely in a “remote” environment.

Yours Truly, Jack Frost is a short play by Tim Kelly and is meant for children in the third and fourth grades, but it is also for any age!  It is the sparkling story of the “old-fashioned” Jack Frost who provides all the frost for the holiday season. The play is full of intrigue, interesting characters and even a dog that talks. The conflict comes from the greedy businesswoman, Evilina Muggleworth, who wants to steal Jack’s formula and market it to the world.

Performed live in the theater four times in years past, “Yours Truly, Jack Frost” was always a hit, so we thought it a good choice for our virtual production during this difficult time for all educators and students, said Theater Director Katherine Bacon.

This took us into all kinds of new territory using technology and elements not usually a part of the “live” theater world.  Instructor Ed Evans and I collaborated again with support from Dr. Eric Sheffield, and our Communications and ITS Departments, providing technical support without which this could not have happened, she explained.

Our talented student actors will be hosting two Zoom interactive remote sessions the week of the show so that children will be able to meet them in person if they so desire.

The Department of Music and Theater Arts is grateful that BOCES is going to be kindly sharing the performance details with the elementary schools in our region.
