Congratulations to SUNY Broome instructor Jesse Katen, who has accepted an appointment on the Modern Language Association’s Committee on Community Colleges beginning in July.
The nation-wide committee is charged with considering a range of issues that affect modern language teachers in two-year colleges, such as conditions of employment, staffing, curriculum, articulation with secondary schools and four-year institutions, the preparation and recruitment of faculty, and the encouragement of scholarship about teaching in the community college.
Katen is an adjunct instructor of English and also serves on the Honors Program Committee, as well as teaching two Honors seminars: HON 170 to incoming students and HON 270, the capstone seminar for graduating seniors. He also just received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching this year.
