Jeff Cohen

Join us from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 14 in Wales 203B for a discussion with media critic Jeff Cohen via Skype on “The Mainstream News Media and Political Theater.” The talk will cover everything from the Trump impeachment inquiry to the media’s framing of the victory over ISIS to the results of the general election. The event will be moderated by Communications Instructor Nick Bongiorno.

Cohen is a journalist, media critic, professor, and the founder of Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR), a media watchdog group in the U.S. He is a retired associate professor of journalism at Ithaca College, where he was an endowed chair and founding director of the Park Center for Independent Media. He was formerly a lawyer for the ACLU and authored or coauthored five books that criticize media bias, mainly written with 2012 California Congressional District 2 candidate Norman Solomon, who missed the “top two” runoff by only 174 votes.
