The men’s cross country team saw two of its runners finish in the top 15 of the race on Saturday.

The 2024 NJCAA Region III Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships were hosted by Herkimer College on Saturday, October 26.

The Hornet men ran an 8K for their race. Three of the five runners on roster were active for this race: Joseph Chermak, Zavien Rouhana, and Lucas McPeak.

In a field of 51 runners, Chermak and Rouhana each had stellar races by finishing in the top 15 of the field. In fact, Chermak and Rouhana logged back-to-back finishes as Chermak took 13th place with a time of 31:44.7 and Rouhana took 14th place with a time of 31:50.6.

After 1.5 miles of racing, Rouhana sat in 25th place and was 11 spots behind Chermak. After 3.0 miles of racing, Rouhana managed to catch up and even pass Chermak. The two stuck together after that, as Chermak moved back in front but Rouhana came in right behind him, just one place and just six seconds behind.

The third Hornet runner on the day, McPeak, finished 45th with a time of 40:52.4.
