Local middle school students from Chenango Valley, Maine-Endwell, Susquehanna Valley, and Windsor completed their career exploration at SUNY Broome with a third four-week Hornet Academy series this spring. The program met for three hours on Saturdays, offering exposure to regionally in-demand careers and industries, as well as an overview of related SUNY Broome programs.

This series included battery science, beat production, computer tech/science, dance/performance art, emergency services, health information technology, mechatronics, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy, power and energy management, and sports management.

Said Danielle Britton, SUNY Broome’s Director of Training, Education and Workforce Development, “We’re pleased to continue expanding the Hornet Academy program, adding school districts and new topics for career exploration. Programs like ours give students the chance to learn about and consider career fields they might have previously been unaware of, and middle school is the optimal time to start looking ahead as high school course selection begins.”
