With the fall 2025 Hornet Academy session, SUNY Broome continued its third year of offering area middle school students hands-on opportunities to explore potential career paths.

Over four weekends this fall, students from the Chenango Valley and Maine-Endwell school districts attended sessions on the SUNY Broome campus to learn about beat production, biology, computer science, electronics, energy systems, entrepreneurship, hospitality and event management, math, performance art, physical therapy, psychology and human services, robotics/electrical engineering, and radiologic technology.

From Danielle Britton, SUNY Broome’s Director of Training, Education and Workforce Development, “Hornet Academy enables students to try out a wide range of careers. Middle school is the right time for this exploration – they carry what they learn with them into high school as they select courses, decide about special programs like New Visions or BOCES, and make choices about college or other kinds of training.”
