Local middle school students from Maine-Endwell and Windsor continued their career exploration at SUNY Broome with a second four-week Hornet Academy series this fall. The program meets for three hours on Saturdays, and offers exposure to Broome’s degree programs and in-demand careers and industries in the region.

The second series included robotics and food science, physical therapy and radiologic technology, criminal justice and emergency services, and beat production and visual arts.

Said Danielle Britton, SUNY Broome’s Director of Training, Education and Workforce Development, “Our hope is that we introduce students to careers they didn’t know about, or they learn more about careers they’re already aware of. We’ve also been intentional with our program selection to include all our divisions, a large number of our programs, in-demand careers, and programs that align with career exploration programs in high schools. Hornet Academy experiences can increase academic confidence and potentially influence high school course selection.
