For the first time in the SUNY Broome history, the men’s cross country team won the Region III Championships Oct. 26 on the 5-mile course at Finger Lakes Community College.

It was the first win in these championships in the school’s history, going all the way back into the 1950s! It was also a historic first win by a school without a track and field program.

It was a barnburner of a race, with the top four teams separated by just 2 points. Broome was actually tied with Hudson Valley with 65 points, but won the title on the tiebreaker. Jeremy Hall, Eric Repp, and Eaan Hackett all made the All-Region team, and 36-year head coach Tom Carter was named Region III coach of the year.

The final standings are below:

4. Finger Lakes: 75

5. Onondaga: 115
