A tree with hands for leaves

The Liberal Arts Division is asking for your help in assisting an Early Childhood student and her family as she was just recently diagnosed with kidney failure.

The student is Kendra Decker, who is also the granddaughter of Dot Braun.  (Dot worked at SUNY Broome for many years and recently retired in Spring 2018.)  Kendra was planning to finish her degree this Fall 2019 and then transfer to Oneonta.  She is currently on medical leave as she receives treatment prior to a kidney transplant.  At this point, she is planning on returning to SUNY Broome for the Spring 2020 semester.

While insurance covers a significant portion of Kendra’s treatment, there are already mounting additional expenses associated with her illness that are not covered by medical insurance. From transportation to and from dialysis treatments to lost work time and beyond, these expenses will not subside in the near future for Kendra and her family.

Our campus community has always been a source of support for those in need and we are hoping that this will happen this time as well.

If you have any questions, please contact Cheryl Sullivan at extension 5021. Thank you in advance for your help.
