group of students performing on stage

The “Great American Heroes” Speak Out project presented during Black History Month is now presented in a brief video for those who may have missed the 30 minute program, said Theater Director Katherine Bacon.

On February 27, 2020 SUNY Broome Theater presented a reading of the words of famous Americans and a playlet titled “Thank You Rosa.” Upbeat dancing to the music of the Neville Brothers’ hit song about Rosa called “Sister Rosa” rounded out the program.

We were happy to have the support of Dr. Carol Ross-Scott who attended a full rehearsal.

Projects like “Speak Out” give an educational opportunity and a venue to “Speak Out” about what we choose in ways that are heartfelt and direct. Students get to learn as well as explore their own talent and skills at performing and, in addition, benefit from a truly collaborative experience, true of all the performing arts.

Enjoy watching our students perform in the video as it is only about 7 minutes long.
