SUNY Broome’s Hospitality Club will say thank you to the workers who are building SUNY Broome’s new Culinary and Event Center in downtown Binghamton.

Under the direction of Professor Maria Montemagno, students in SUNY Broome’s Hospitality programs will cater a pizza luncheon for the workers at noon Monday, Nov. 11, in the CEC. Access to the event will be through the front entrance, located at 78 Exchange St.

The $20 million center, which will open for the Spring 2020 semester, features state-of-the-art amenities such as garde manger, production kitchens, a fully equipped beverage lab for mixology classes, a full-dining room, a state-of-the-art lecture hall for cooking demonstrations, high-tech classroom space, and more.

The Culinary and Event Center also represents the complete renovation of the historic Carnegie Library in downtown Binghamton, preserving many of the aesthetic elements, from the plaster to the painstakingly restored woodwork, a striking skylight, ornate railings, a terrazzo floor with a Grecian key pattern, and two faux fireplaces in the main-floor student lounge.
