SUNY Broome’s President, Dr. Tony D. Hawkins, centered his address around the unveiling of the College’s updated vision, mission, and value statements.
SUNY Broome’s Vision
Transforming futures, creating opportunity: Be Your Best at Broome.
SUNY Broome’s Mission
As the community’s college, we create an environment of inclusive excellence that aligns with each learner’s educational, career, and personal goals, serving as a catalyst for local and global economic advancement.
SUNY Broome’s Values
- Community: We forge trusting, caring, and collaborative relationships within and beyond the College.
- Equity: We are enriched by the diversity of our community, ensuring opportunity and belonging through inclusive, accessible, and equitable, practices.
- Integrity: We strive for continuous improvement through accountable, transparent, and sustainable practices.
- Learning: We cultivate a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters innovation, encourages inquiry, and empowers everyone to realize their potential.
“This vision statement contains three parts: it’s simple, it’s short, and it’s memorable,” explained President Hawkins. “This vision will serve as a reminder of our common purpose in support of each other and all those who seek the opportunity for higher education.”
President Hawkins reminded the group that “Be Your Best at Broome,” is not just an adage for our students, but should serve as a reminder to the College’s faculty and staff to bring their best efforts to work each day.
President Hawkins recognized three professional teams on campus who brought their best to Broome over the summer.
- SUNY Broome’s Information Technology Team: For their response to the Crowdstrike Global Technical Outage.
- SUNY Broome’s Financial Aid Team: For their response to the FAFSA Simplification Saga.
- SUNY Broome’s Admissions and Onboarding, Orientation, and Dual Enrollment Teams: For their enrollment efforts throughout the year.
