Since classes began in August, the College has conducted 1,966 COVID-19 tests. The semester-long pool testing has yielded a 100% negative rate to date. This is in large part due to proactive measures taken by the College, including voluntarily going remote for a 3-week period when the county case rate was on the rise, and most importantly, through the diligence of SUNY Broome employees and students wearing masks and social distancing.

With the Thanksgiving holiday and break coming up, guidelines and protocols for returning to campus have been set in place for next week:

  • All students and staff have been advised regarding the NYS travel advisory
  • 100% of residential students will be tested on Monday, 11/30 and Tuesday, 12/1
  • The campus will continue weekly random pool testing of commuter students and  voluntary testing of employees
  • A second round of departure testing will take place during the week of December 14, before Winter Break
