The Vanguard Award

One of 15 Vanguard Award finalists is a SUNY Broome student: Hailey Demkovich, nominated by Professor and Chairperson of Criminal Justice & Emergency Services, Kerry Weber.

Congratulations to Hailey on advancing to the finalist round, and to the nomination efforts of Professor Kerry Weber!

The Vanguard Award recognizes outstanding students who are pursuing Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs that are non-traditional for their gender. It is presented annually by the NET (Nontraditional Employment & Training) Project, an initiative administered by SUNY Albany’s Center for Women in Government & Civil Society in partnership with the NYS Education Department.

Over the past six years, eight SUNY Broome students have won the Vanguard Award for their work in Physical Therapy Assisting, Engineering Science, Criminal Justice, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Nursing, and Early Childhood Education.
