Phi Theta Kappa in Greek letters

We are pleased to announce that Professor Irene J. Byrnes and the SUNY Broome chapter of Phi Theta Kappa are recipients of Phi Theta Kappa Hallmark Awards!

Our chapter has won the NYS Regional Hallmark Award in Fellowship for their extensive programming for chapter members which includes Common Hour presentations, the weekly Great Books Discussion, and donations to the Women’s Prison Book Project.

Professor Byrnes, who has been the SUNY Broome PTK advisor since 2005, has won the Continued Excellence Advisor Award. Over the years, Professor Byrnes has been recognized many times for her outstanding work and leadership. Her recent award is added to an already long list of recognition:

  • International Hallmark Award, Distinguished Advisor Award: 2011
  • International Hallmark Award, Continued Excellence Award for Advisors: 2012, 2014, 2016, 2019
  • New York State Hallmark Awards for Continued Excellence as an Advisor: 2018, 2019, 2021

The Hallmark Award Program recognizes superior achievement in Phi Theta Kappa’s programs while encouraging excellence, reflecting fairness, recognizing quality, and enhancing individual and chapter development.
