For the first time in over three decades, the B.C. Center, SUNY Broome’s on-site licensed child care program, is opening its doors to the College’s littlest learners for the Summer 2024 break.

This pilot program is the first of several changes made to the B.C. Center’s academic calendar. In a concerted effort to support the needs of the SUNY Broome’s student-parents, faculty and staff, and parents of the community, the B.C. Center is moving to a 12-month schedule that aligns more closely with the College’s academic calendar.

While the Summer 2024 pilot program was intentionally capped at half-capacity, going forward, the B.C. Center will operate at full capacity with 44 children ranging in age from six weeks to five years old. Priority is given to the children of SUNY Broome students.

The B.C. Center is currently full for the Fall 2024 semester, but those interested in learning more about the facility and/or joining the Center’s waitlist, are encouraged to reach out to the Director of the B.C. Center, Nichole L. McMillen, via email: mcmillennl@sunybroome.edu.

“This has been an exciting season for us at the B.C. Center! In addition to being open this Summer, the B.C. Center is also serving as a lunch location for the City of Binghamton’s Summer Meal Program,” shared McMillen. “Children 18 and under are invited to come to the B.C. Center Monday through Friday to pick up a free lunch provided by the Rock on Café. Children are invited to eat their lunch on-site under our shady pavilion. We’d love to see you!”
