Volunteers needed, Several colorful hands raised to volunteer

The Dean of Students’ office is currently seeking volunteers to serve as an Advisor for student Complainants and/or Respondents (“the parties”) involved in the Title IX grievance process who otherwise do not select an Advisor of Choice to assist them throughout the process.

The students participating as Complainants or Respondents in this process may be accompanied by an Advisor to any meeting or hearing to which they are required or are eligible to attend but may not speak for the party; however, the Advisor plays an important role in any cross-examination of the parties during a formal Title IX hearing.

If you are interested in serving as a student Advisor for Title IX complaints or would like more information, please contact Dr. Scott Kane, Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator at kanes1@sunybroome.edu.

Note that volunteer Advisors must complete an on-line training program before being appointed by the Title IX Coordinator for one of the parties involved in the Title IX grievance process. Employees interested in this role also may want to discuss their involvement with their supervisor.
