Daquan Campbell

Daquan Campbell led in scoring with 20 points and made it a double-double with 10 rebounds, while adding 3 assists and 3 steals of his own.

The men’s basketball team rebounded in a big way from their opening night loss by defeating Columbia-Greene CC Tuesday night in the Baldwin Gymnasium, 105-64.

The Hornets found themselves in a hole early on in the Region III opener for both teams, as the Twins mixed up their defensive looks and had the home team off balance. The offense was sparked by reserves Daquan Campbell and Eginhard Jean-Philippe, who scored 8 and 11 points respectively in the first half and were instrumental in pushing Broome out to a 51-35 halftime lead. The relentless defensive pressure applied by the Hornets eventually got the best of the Twins allowing Broome to continue building on their lead in the second half.

Point Guard Seth Roselle, Jr led an unselfish offensive attack by dishing out 9 of Broome’s season high 25 assists while adding 10 points and 4 boards in the contest. Campbell led in scoring with 20 points and made it a double-double with 10 rebounds, while adding 3 assists and 3 steals of his own. K-Cie Salmon put in 19 points, 14 coming in the second half to go along with 4 boards, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Jeremiah Williams came off the bench for a solid all-around performance with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Starting Center Jalin Pitts was the second Hornet to add a double-double on the night with 11 points and 13 boards and reserve Center Garrett Bieber contributed to the win by adding 5 blocks.

Broome takes their first road trip of the year this Saturday to face off against North Country CC in a Region III matchup, tipoff scheduled for 5:00pm.
