Introducing Elizana-Marie Joseph, the final panelist for our upcoming career panel and networking event!
Elizana-Marie Joseph is a passionate health professional committed to ensuring health equity for all. Originally from Binghamton, Elizana currently works as a pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) specialist and case manager at UHS Binghamton Primary Care. Through health promotion efforts, community outreach and patient navigation support services, Elizana works to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS. She is especially proud to serve as a healthcare professional in her hometown because her efforts and contributions help improve the well-being of a community that has given her so much.
Prior to her work at UHS, Elizana worked at the Tioga County Public Health Department, where she helped support community prevention and treatment efforts related to the opioid/heroin epidemic through health education, coalition building and naloxone/Narcan trainings. Working with the Danish Cancer Society, Elizana helped design a strategic calorie intake awareness and reduction campaign using print, video, social media and community activism. As a Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program Scholar, Elizana has conducted fully-funded research assessing how racial/ethnic diversity among chiropractic practitioners and patients impacts various health measures. In another research opportunity, Elizana used a variety of innovative research methods to analyze the extent to which the University of Rochester is physically and socially accessible for individuals with mobility related challenges.
Elizana is a graduate from the University of Rochester, where she received Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in both Public Health and Communications. In her spare time, Elizana enjoys music, theater, reading, volunteering, traveling and spending time with her family.
