Students in SUNY Broome’s Hospitality programs took an in-depth look at the beverage that powers food service: coffee!

The BHM 123: Bartending & Beverage Management class paid a visit to Java Joe’s Roasting Company on Oct. 8 and 9. Coffee is a critical component of food service and often overlooked, noted Professor Maria Montemagno.

Students had the opportunity to tour the Binghamton facility and learn the steps of the coffee-roasting process. Best of all: They had the chance to taste the finished product.
