SUNY Broome Workforce

On Wednesday, June 17, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., we will be hosting a workshop with the Education Strategy Group (ESG) on Workforce Pell. We will be discussing both the programmatic requirements, as well as internal infrastructure and systems that will need to support noncredit students.

Noncredit and credit alignment is more important than ever. With Workforce Pell on the horizon, this new federal funding stream offers community colleges an opportunity to build high-quality pathways from short-term training into good jobs or longer-term, credit-bearing education and training. SUNY Broome Community College and ESG will host A More Unified Community College: Becoming Workforce Pell Ready.

This two-hour, virtual workshop is an action-oriented session that will equip campus leaders with the knowledge and tools necessary to strategically position programs for eligibility. Key objectives of the workshop include:
1. Orient Participants to Workforce Pell: Provide campus stakeholders with a foundational understanding of the core intent and specific provisions of the Workforce Pell legislation.

2. Detail Eligibility Criteria: Review the essential program criteria and share key insights and lessons learned from the negotiated rulemaking process.

3. Catalyze Institutional Reform and Ideation: Engage in a working session to develop institutional strategies for bridging the noncredit and credit divide. This workshop will leverage Workforce Pell as a powerful catalyst for achieving a more unified community college.

Date: Wednesday, June 17
Time: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
