Ghia Medovich led both teams on the glass with 12 rebounds to go with her 4 points and 2 steals.

The women’s basketball team fell to Hudson Valley CC on Saturday 87-58 before defeating Adirondack CC 61-34 in their first two games back after the semester break.

The Vikings were red-hot on Saturday, shooting 50% from the field including 47% from beyond the arc. The Hornets were plagued by turnovers in the contest, posting 31 in all. The Vikings were led by Payton Graber with 26 points while the Hornets were led by Ava Eichler with 22 points. Melissa Carden came off the bench for 10 points to go with her 7 boards and Ghia Medovich led both teams on the glass with 12 rebounds to go with her 4 points and 2 steals. Abby Lyon and Megan Carden each had 6 points with the former grabbing 9 rebounds and the latter 8. Sophia Dutra and Gwendolyn Payne chipped in 5 points each to round out the scoring.

On Sunday the Timberwolves hit their first three shots from behind the arc and a 9-2 lead before the Hornets fought back and took a 15-9 first quarter lead and never looked back. Medovich had a solid game, scoring 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, both collegiate highs for the freshman from Harpursville. Eichler had 14 points and Payne and Dutra each had 8 points in the winning effort. Melissa Carden had another big day on the boards with 11.

Broome travels to Watertown on Saturday for a MSAC matchup against Jefferson CC at 1:00 pm before returning home on Sunday for another MSAC contest, this one against Finger Lakes CC scheduled for 1:00 pm.
