SUNY Broome men's basketball

The men’s basketball team dropped three games in three days beginning with Tompkins Cortland CC on Friday, Jefferson CC on Saturday and Hudson Valley CC on Sunday.

On Friday in Dryden against Tompkins Cortland both teams fought hard in a battle that went back and forth most of the game. The Panthers built a double digit lead late in the second half and Broome’s comeback attempt was cut short by time and made free throws by their opponent. The end result, 73-66. K-Cie Salmon was the only Hornet in double figures, he finished with 27 points, hitting 4-9 from the arc. Cameron Irving-Miller added 9 assists, Matthew Paige contributed 7 points and 9 boards and Garrett Bieber blocked 3 shots.

On Saturday Broome traveled to Watertown to face Jefferson CC. The game was close throughout but a surge midway through the second half gave the Cannoneers the cushion they needed to pull out an 80-66 victory. Salmon led three Hornets in double figures with 23 points. Jalin Pitts added a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds and Andrew Charles put in 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Seth Roselle, Jr contributed all around with 9 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.

Sunday brought the Hornets to Troy for a Region III matchup against Hudson Valley CC. In a game where 46 fouls were called, the Vikings outshot the Hornets from the free throw line 24-33 to 11-17, the big difference in the 78-61 game. Scoring for the Hornets was led by Salmon with 17. Pitts pulled down 13 boards and scored 7 points, with 2 blocks in only 12 minutes due to foul trouble. Roselle scored 11 and added 4 rebounds, and Irving-Miller put in 10 points with 5 rebounds.

Broome returns to their home floor on Wednesday to face MSAC opponent Finger Lakes CC at 7:30 pm.
