SUNY Broome men's basketball team vs Finger Lakes CC
The men’s basketball team took a 37-35 lead into halftime, but had to make a second-half comeback attempt that fell just short in an 80-71 loss to Finger Lakes.

Broome had a two-point advantage entering the break on Tuesday, but the visiting Lakers out-rebounded the Hornets and used an efficient shooting effort to impose their will in the second half.

Broome did not go away, continuing to battle throughout the second half. Despite cutting what was a double-digit lead for most of the second half to just single digits, Broome could not keep Finger Lakes from pulling away late.

Although it was a challenge for the Hornets to keep up with the Lakers’ pace in the final 20 minutes, Broome was effective on offense as well, shooting 51% from the field.

Antonio Maria led the way for the home team, contributing 19 points on 8-10 shooting from the field. He connected on three of his five three-pointers and consistently finished above the rim in transition. Sophomore guard Cassidy Williamson-Chin proved to be a phenomenal spark on both ends of the floor, adding 17 points on 6-7 shooting from the field.

Point guard Axell Camacho-Cintron orchestrated the offense for Broome, tallying 14 points and connecting on four of four free-throw attempts. Sophomore forward Jean Senatus controlled the boards for the Hornets, finishing the contest with three offensive and nine defensive rebounds for a total of 12.

The team will look to get back to its winning ways on Thursday, with a road contest against Northampton CC set for a 7:00 p.m. tip off. The game will be streamed live on the Northampton Sports Network.
