Congratulations SUNY Broome Class of 2020! Please know the Graduation Committee is working hard to make this milestone as special as possible for you. As you know, we plan to do a virtual Commencement Ceremony on July 25th at 1:00pm. The link can be found on the SUNY Broome Graduation Website. Don’t forget to fill out the Graduate Information Form by June 26th to be featured during the Virtual Commencement Ceremony!
In addition to the Virtual Commencement Ceremony on July 25th, we are going to host a Graduation Drive-Through Pickup on campus where you will be able to pick up a special gift bag which will include your diploma cover and some small gifts including confetti to participate in our Confetti Challenge (stay tuned for details)! Diplomas will not be given out at this pickup, but will be mailed to you mid-July. Pickups will take place June 29th – July 1st (Rain date July 2nd). We are asking that any Fall 2019, Spring 2020, and Summer 2020 graduates participate in this pickup on the following dates and times:
- Last name begins with letters A – G, pick up Monday, June 29th, 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Last name begins with letters H – Q, pick up Tuesday, June 30th, 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Last name begins with letters R – Z, pick up Wednesday, July 1st, 10:00am – 6:00pm
- If we have inclement weather any day, we will have a rain date of July 2nd (keep an eye on the Graduation Website and our social media for updates).
We would love to see you all participate during this drive-through pickup so that the SUNY Broome Community can congratulate you on all of your accomplishments! Different members of Administration, Faculty, and Staff will be on site throughout the day to wave to you and cheer you on as you collect your gift bag. Although you won’t be permitted to exit your vehicle due to safety and health concerns, we will be snapping fun photos throughout the day and posting them to social media, so decorate your car and get it ready! If you are not able to attend the drive-through pickup, don’t worry, we will mail the diploma cover and small gifts to you with your diploma mid-July. Although registration isn’t necessary, if you plan to attend the drive-through to pick up your gift bag, please email StudentActivities@sunybroome.edu in order to help us gauge an accurate number.
In order to comply with guidelines regarding COVID-19, any individuals attending the drive-through pickup who (1) display symptoms consistent of COVID-19, (2) have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or (3) within the last 14 days were in close or proximate contact of an individual who had symptoms of COVID-19 or tested positive for COVID-19, are not permitted to attend. We also ask that individuals wear masks (unless medically unable to) while receiving their gift bag and do not exit their cars. **Please keep in mind that there will be no access to restrooms.**
