Aja Jackson from the women’s track & field team is the SUNY Broome Student-Athlete of the Week for May 6-12.
Last week, Aja was the National Champion in the 10K and the National Runner-Up in the 5K at the 2024 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Utica, NY. Her 1st place finish in the 10K and 2nd place finish in the 5K earned her an NJCAA All-American recognition for each.
With a time of 40:37.64 in the 10K and 19:15.53 in the 5K, Jackson set personal records and school records for both of the events. She bested her own previous PR in the 10K by a whopping 56 seconds, and bested her previous PR in the 5K by 30.25 seconds.
