I am excited to share that my oil portrait of my mother, affectionately known as “The OG,” will be displayed at the Broome Arts Council in March. It is part of the We Practice What We Teach exhibition, which celebrates art educators in Broome County.
This portrait was the centerpiece of my recent exhibition, Lineage and Location, at SUNY Poly. The painting is a large-scale portrait with a high chroma palette, showcasing my mother’s living room, reflected in the glasses.
My aim was to capture the warmth of the space she has provided since childhood, as well as now. Additionally, those who know my mother can confirm that she writes notes on top of notes and so on! Also, shown in the reflection.
I invite you to join us on March 1 at 6 p.m. for the opening reception at the Broome Arts Council. It is part of their First Friday event.
