Megan Carden received the 2023 NJCAA Division III Women's Field Athlete of the Year for the East Region after the NJCAA's Track & Field Championships held May 11th-13th in Utica.Megan Carden received the 2023 NJCAA Division III Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the East Region after the NJCAA’s Track & Field Championships held May 11th-13th in Utica.

The sophomore from Vestal, and rare 3-sport athlete, was instrumental in Broome’s success the past two years, helping the Hornets capture back to back Region III titles in their first two years of competition. At the Region III Championships held at Hudson Valley CC, Carden placed 1st in the shot put, 4th in the javelin throw, 2nd in the long jump, 2nd in the 100m hurdles, 7th in the 100m dash, 5th in the high jump and, was part of the 4x100m relay, 4×400 relay and 4x800m relay teams that all placed 2nd. Additionally, Megan competed at the 2023 Brockport Multi & Invitational held at the College of Brockport where she qualified for Nationals in the Women’s Heptathlon. She finished 4th overall while competing against 4-year schools. Carden placed 4th in the 100m hurdles, 1st in the high jump, 3rd in the shot put, 5th in the 200m dash, 3rd in the long jump, 1st in the javelin throw and 7th in the 800m run.

Carden earned Second Team Field All-American in the heptathlon and Honorable Mention Relay All-American in the 4×400 at the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She also placed 5th in the javelin throw.
