Criminal Justice & Emergency Services Student Association (CJESSA) field trip to NYS Preparedness Training Center

The Criminal Justice & Emergency Services Student Association (CJESSA) sponsored a field trip on 11/01/22 to the NYS Preparedness Training Center in Oriskany, NY. Twenty-two SUNY Broome students, Adjunct Instructor Joe Julian, and Associate Professor Leigh Martindale toured the state-of-the-art facility that provides first responders (law enforcement officers, fire, EMT, homeland security, and military officials) practical training.

The tour included realistic training venues, including Swift Water and Flood Training (SWFT), a 45,000 square foot Cityscape complex, and an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) simulator. The facility is recognized as one of the finest state operated centers in the United States.

This trip provided an invaluable experience to students interested in careers in the field of criminal justice and emergency services. Students described the tour as an awesome learning experience outside the classroom.
