The SUNY Broome Human Services Chemical Dependency Counseling student club will donate proceeds from their semester fundraisers on Nov. 21, 2019, to VOICES Recovery Center at 340 Prospect St. in Binghamton.
Many people have already benefited from the Center’s commitment to assist anyone without judgement with their recovery needs, organizers said.
“I absolutely love my job! I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for all of the help that I received. So now that I’m able to help others, I feel as though I’ve found my purpose and passion in life,” said VOICES peer advocate Traci Buckley. “Together, we will continue to combat this terrible disease to the best of our abilities.”
Club President Anthony Hill, also a VOICES peer advocate, club officer Marie Sroka and Professor Mary Whittaker, coordinator of SUNY Broome’s Chemical Dependency Program, will present a check for $1,000 to the director of VOICES Recovery Center, Jeff Eaddy-El. The club chose VOICES to recognize and help them to provide daily support and wellness activities, at no charge, to community members (including friends and families) affected by substance abuse.
