Since the beginning of the college’s Foundation in 1965, we have endeavored to provide financial resources to students in need and to reward academic success. Thousands of SUNY Broome students have been financially supported by donors who desire to help them succeed. Past and current donors of the Foundation made it possible to grant over $1,531,283 to student support during the Foundation’s fiscal year of 2021-2022.

As we look forward to our most important day of fundraising, the 8th Annual 24 Hours of Giving, on Nov. 29, we’d like to share some additional stories of how donations invest in students and their futures.

Cailee holds up a thank you sign.

Cailee will pursue a career as a clinical lab technician after graduation. She loves hiking and backpacking.

She says, “I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”

Liilan holds up a thank you sign.

Liilan, a Johnson City high school alumnus, plays the violin and is very civically engaged.

He says, “This award genuinely means so much to me. Not only do I need these funds for my education, but I also sincerely appreciate being honored for my work.”

Jared holds up a thank you sign.

Jared, a former native of Florida, loves art and the great outdoors.

He says, “My goal has been to be the first in my immediate family to complete college, and this award plays a very important role in helping me achieve that.”

Aisha holds up a thank you sign.

Aisha is pursuing a psychology degree and hopes to open her own cafe. “I want to integrate this degree into my cafe by making it evolve around mental health and counseling,” she said.

She added, “This scholarship will aid me and lift off a lot of stress. I am glad donors like you allow me and my colleagues to have such an astounding opportunity.”

Harlee holds up a thank you sign.

Harlee is a full-time mom, student, and employee. She is working on being credentialed as a substance use disorder counselor. She says, “Thank you so much for providing me with this award! Knowing that some of my major bills will be paid for, I can focus more on school and finals and less on financial struggles!”
