“The King Stag,” SUNY Broome Theater’s spring production was a great success with audiences.
Three evenings of more than 250 audience members witnessed this rarely performed commedia dell’arte theater. Our rich rendition of this three centuries-old play included live music by Will Westcott, period costumes, a giant parrot puppet, masks and lots of magic! Director Katherine Bacon also acted in a small role alongside the students.
Carlo Gozzi wrote this classic play in the mid-1700s. He was also the author of plays that inspired the famous Puccini opera “Turandot” and the famous Prokofiev opera “The Love For Three Oranges.”
Thanks to all who attended! Those who could not can view some original photos posted on the theater Facebook page linked here and on the college website at http://www1.sunybroome.edu/programs/theater/
