As I mentioned in several campus committees and meetings during the fall, I am starting a reading group, which will be focused on reviewing directions, trends, and data in higher education, specifically focused on community colleges. The intended outcome for the group is to discuss and sharpen SUNY Broome’s focus on “what’s next” in this continuously changing landscape.
The reading group will start meeting in February 2019. We will meet five to six times over the spring semester. The book that we will read is: Redesigning America’s Community Colleges by Thomas R. Bailey, Shanna Smith Jaggars and David Jenkins. Several copies will be available from our library collection along with an executive summary of the book, and a power point presentation given by author Thomas R. Bailey. Starting Jan. 28, 2019, copies of the book and the supplemental materials will be available at the Circulation Desk in the library.
If you would like to discuss the future of SUNY Broome and the current challenges and opportunities for higher education, please consider joining the reading group. Contact Rhoda Neal: 778-5138 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to participate. Meeting dates/times will be scheduled shortly.
