Colleagues: as we look to strategically streamline operations in the wake of a dramatically shrinking market, we have once again retained the services of Jim Magee to help us in this new effort. Many of you met Jim during the academic strategic planning process, therefore we felt his existing foundation here could serve as a springboard to this undertaking rather than bringing in a new consultant who would start from scratch. It’s also a much smaller contract than the academic master plan required, thus fewer bureaucratic steps were required to make the choice and to commence this effort sooner than later.
Jim will collect a broad spectrum of feedback regarding our current administrative and academic structures and will discuss models we may consider for the future. He will be on campus next week when he will undertake a series of 20+ interviews with key academic and administrative leaders on the topic of our organizational structures. He will then return in early fall when faculty and front-line staff are more available to talk with him, as well as our Shared Governance groups and others. He should conclude his work here mid-semester.
