SUNY Broome Visual Communication Arts Professor David Zeggert’s oil portrait of Charlie, an English bulldog, has been accepted into the Animal Attraction exhibition at the Salmagundi Club, 47 Fifth Ave., in New York City. The show runs from Feb. 3 through 21.
The portrait is painted on a diamond-shaped wood board with a neutral background. The unusual shape offered-up some compositional challenges, but it also worked nicely with the structure of Charlie’s head, ears and wrinkled folds and, in the end, helped advance his character and overall look.
