Lisa Schappert, BCC Foundation Development DirectorLisa Schappert is deeply familiar with the nonprofit world, and the ins and outs of fundraising.

She comes to SUNY Broome after nine years with the Lourdes Hospital Foundation and, before that, experience working for Concept Systems, an Ithaca-based consulting firm.

As the Broome Community College Foundation’s new Director of Development, she is excited for the opportunity to take her talents into a new realm: higher education.

“It’s the perfect next step for me. I’m able to apply what I’ve learned in my previous workplaces,” Schappert said of her decision to join the Foundation. “It’s an exciting time coming to work for the college, which is such an important part of the community.”

Schappert has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from SUNY Oswego, and a master’s degree in nonprofit management from Regis University. She replaces previous development director Andrea Roma, who has transferred to SUNY Broome’s Fast Forward and Early College office.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lisa to our Advancement Team here at the Foundation. Her direct fundraising and management experience makes her a perfect fit with our organization and our mission,” said Foundation Executive Director Cathy Williams. “I am confident that her expertise, personal relationships and knowledge of best practices will help us to be even more successful in our continued efforts to raise private support for SUNY Broome students and our campus.”
